Local project needs YOUR support – VOTE NOW!

A local clothing project that assists men with free interview clothing, which is based at Castlebrae Business Centre URGENTLY needs YOUR support.

Grassroots Clothing Project was originally set up by Archie Lowe ( now working at Forth Sector) & Jo Foottit, when they were Employment Advisers with locally based charity – Community Renewal.

The project was set up to redress a much needed imbalance in the city – the fact that unemployed men or those experiencing  low wage/disadvantage/in work poverty and also under employed had no means of support in gaining interview appropriate clothing.

Archie Lowe said “This year has been a monumental one for as – good and bad!  We have continued the project with a Crowdfunding appeal and the kindness of a Trust (who wish to remain anonymous).  However all funds will cease on 31st December 2017.  We are now appealing for your assistance to keep the project going by voting for us via the Aviva Community Fund.”

The clothing project takes referrals from a huge range of providers in the city, including Jobcentreplus, who all agree there is a need for this project to continue.  Individuals (men) who have interviews coming up can make a direct referral for assistance by emailing grassrootsclothingwardrobe@gmail.com Women who are looking to return to work can contact an alternative service called Smartworks.

Mr Lowe also said ” Grassroots Clothing were successfully donated several thousand pieces of interview garments from a High Street Bank (unused suits, jackets and female clothing) which we offered out to other anti-poverty, employability, community payback teams, to name but a few, Scotland wide!  So we are not just helping unemployed men in our own city but, Glasgow, Aberdeen and East Lothian too!  Please, please vote for us and pass our details out to as many agencies, organisations, friends, colleagues, service users and networks as possible.”

The Aviva Community Fund is a national funding process where community groups from the whole of the UK can apply for assistance.  Any funding offered is dependent on a voting process and overall winners are those that gain the most amount of votes.

The process is –

  1. Open the above link to our page
  2. Register with Aviva, this includes only your name, email and a password, then verify in your email.
  3. You have 10 votes, either to use for 10 projects or 1.
  4. Please use as many of the 10 to vote for Grassroots

Grassroots Clothing is unique in the city, as it is the only project to offer quality donated interview clothing to men.
