Get ‘Online Today’ with free weekly drop-ins

The Online Today project run by sight loss charity RNIB Scotland (Royal National Institute of Blind People Scotland) is offering drop-in sessions to help people to get the best out of the internet.

Do you have sight loss and are wondering how to get online? Perhaps you received a smartphone or tablet as a Christmas gift and are unsure how to use it?

If so don’t worry, Online Today say that they will be on hand to offer free weekly drop-in sessions, helping people to get the best out of the internet by using the accessibility features that come built in to tablets and smartphones.

If you have any questions about your own touch-screen device they will do our best to answer them and if they have a new device and would like to learn how to access the voice and magnification features you can also bring that along.

Project co-ordinator Sheila Sneddon said: “Run by RNIB, the Big Lottery Fund project Online Today offers drop-in sessions to help people learn about the accessibility features that come built in to tablets and smartphones.

“The team can demonstrate these features and show you some amazing apps that help blind and partially sighted people to get the best out of the digital world.

“If you’d like help with accessibility on a new or existing touch screen device then bring it along or just drop by to try out one of our tablets or smartphones.

“Sessions are on a Monday  at Moulsdale House, 24D Milton Road East, EH15 2NJ from 10.00 to 12.00 or on a Thursday at RNIB 12 – 14 Hillside Crescent, EH7 5EA from 11.00 to 2.00.”

“There’s no need to book. Just drop in and have a chat with one of our team.”
