Community Sport Hub set for Jack Kane Sports Centre and Craigmillar

A new community sport hub (CSH) will launch at the Jack Kane Sport Centre later this month. The Jack Kane and Craigmillar CSH is part of a nationwide sportscotland led initiative to support and develop club sport in Scotland.

Supported by lottery funding, community sport hubs provide a home for local sport clubs, physical activity organisations and local partners who will work together to get more people of all ages active in sport and physical activity.  At present there are over 150 hubs across Scotland working to develop a stronger environment for community sport.

Phil Trodden, Edinburgh Leisure’s Community Sport Hub Coordinator explains; “Community Sport Hubs are sportscotland’s vehicle for developing grassroots sports and we are excited to bring this initiative to the Jack Kane Sports Centre and the wider Craigmillar community.

“We are looking to work with local sports clubs, physical activity groups and schools to help promote how people of all ages can get more active. The hub will encourage everyone to work collaboratively to benefit the sports community. We also want the hub to complement and promote all the good work that is already going on in the community; there are some great clubs and sporting role models in this community so the hub will bring this together and promote it further.”

The hub is hosting an introduction evening on Monday the 21  November at Jack Kane Sport Centre from 19.45. If you are involved in a sports club or physical activity group based in and around the Craigmillar area and would like to be involved in the hub, or wish to come along and learn more, contact Phil Trodden (Community Sport Hub Coordinator) on 07766 085 918 or via email at
