Police ask for witnesses to road collision on Thursday morning

Police have put out an appeal for witnesses following a road collision this morning involving a pedestrian and a car.

The incident involved a white coloured Kia Picante near the junction of Craigmillar Castle Loan and Niddrie Mains Road. The injured pedestrian is a 59 year-old man who has been taken to Royal Infirmary Edinburgh for treatment to head injuries.

At present the road is still closed to traffic as police officers conduct collision investigation work.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened.

Sergeant Kosmas Papakyriakou of Edinburgh road police said: “Our inquiries into this incident are ongoing and I would be interested to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident to contact police immediately.

“The road is currently closed near Niddrie Mains Road and local diversions are in place.

“I thank the members of the public for their patience and cooperation while we continue with our inquiries.”
