Community gardeners get together

A second community ‘get together’ for people interested or already active in a community garden will take place on Wednesday 27 January 2016 from 11am to 1pm in the Thistle garden, Niddrie Mains Road.

Carr Gomm and partners are hosting this event to follow on from the earlier ‘get together’ at Castleview Community Centre held back in November 2015. This aims to allow people to come together in an informal setting and connect with other community gardens or people interested in growing food in the Greater Craigmillar area.

Carr Gomm say that community growing is a good social activity and can boost individuals confidence and give them the chance to make new friends. As well as learning about gardening through growing fruit and vegetables some community gardens also hold sessions on how to cook healthy affordable meals with any produce harvested.

Tea and coffee will be provided and plans of the Thistle garden will also be on display at the event.
