Local Skills centre receives VIP visit

The Recruitment & Skills Centre Fort Kinnaird, based within Fort Kinnaird Shopping centre had a visit last week from Scottish Labour Party Leader Kezia Dugdale and local SNP Councillor Mike Bridgman.  The centre which originally grew out of a few porto-cabins based in the car park at Fort Kinnaird to assist jobseeker’s gain Christmas employment has now blossomed into a thriving and busy skills and employability centre dealing with thousands of enquiries yearly.RSC TEAM - Kezia Dugdale visit - 17.11.15

 This year their Christmas recruitment ran from mid September to 20th November and saw hundreds of people dropping in to find out about the latest vacancies and training opportunities.  As well as engaging with jobseeker’s RSC Fortkinnaird also liaise closely with employers not only based at the shopping centre but throughout the city and offer different services, including a Talent Bank and an In-Work Support service, which allows jobseeker’s to sustain their employment when they find themselves in difficulty and the possibility of giving up their jobs.
The RSC has worked with around 284 local employers since it was set up in 2013 and has handled over 3100 vacancies.
The RSC offers businesses a recruitment support service which includes advertising vacancies, matching applicants to jobs, interview and staff training facilities, business training options including on-site meeting and training facilities. A number of local businesses have used the RSC to provide in-work business training for over 460 of their staff.

The team at the RSC have assisted over 2200 jobseekers and understand the challenges people face in gaining employment and therefore strive to support jobseekers by engaging directly and supplying a range of recruitment related services including; signposting vacancies, supporting clients to create and update CVs, completing application forms, access to employment and information events, computers for job searching and providing pre-recruitment training opportunities. In addition there are additional range of support offerings including a Talent Bank and a co-located In Work Support service.
