A new consultation has been launched by Edinburgh and Lothians Greenspace Trust (ELGT) on the behalf of the City of Edinburgh Council on options to develop an adventure play area in Magdalene Glen.
A condition of the planning agreement for the new Portobello High School was that the Council would set aside funds to create a new adventure play area. Initial consultation has already taken place which found that the preferred site for this is in Magdalene Glen.
The next stage of consultation, which is currently underway, will gather views on the location of the play area and the equipment that should be included.
Three draft concepts have been published showing the potential layout of the area and possible equipment that might be included such as traditional play frames and slides or natural play such as wooden balance stilts.
The three proposed locations in Magdalene Glen are near Duddingston Road, Milton Link or in the middle of the park. The survey also allows you to include play equipment from another choice in your preferred option.
A representative from ELGT and the Council will be attending the next Magdalene Neighbourhood Association meeting to consult with residents on these plans. These meetings are open to the public and the next meeting will take place on Thursday 29 October 2015 at 6:30pm in Magdalene Community Centre.
The survey is open until Friday 13 November. Comments from the survey will be used to draft a proposed final plan of the play area which will then go back out to consultation.
Copies of the flyers which show the proposal and allow for public comments have been left at the Magdalene shops, Magdalene Community Centre and Brunstane Primary along with a drop box to collect these completed forms as an alternative to sending them by mail.
