Craigmillar Medical Group has kicked off its annual anti-flu vaccination campaign with a series of drop-in sessions, beginning today (Monday 26 October).

The drop in clinic is open Monday 26 October 9am to 7pm running through to Tuesday 27 – Friday 30 October 9am to 4pm.

Staff say there is no need to make an appointment, just find a time that suits you.

People are entitled to a free NHS flu vaccination if they are:
• Over 65
• Caring for someone else
• Under 65 with chronic disease, like asthma, COPD, heart disease, diabetes, liver or kidney disease, or ever had a stroke
• Immunocompromised.

Staff have stressed that the drop-in clinics are running for one week only and so local residents who qualify from a free flu vaccine should try to attend one of the sessions.

There is a second series of clinics next month aimed at toddlers and young children.

Craigmillar Medical Group is offering free flu vaccination for children aged 2-5 years.

These clinics are on:

Friday 13 November 2.30 – 5.00pm;

Friday 20 November from 2pm-5pm

An appointment is necessary for these clinics. Parents are asked to contact reception on 0131 536 9500.

School age children will this year get their vaccination at school.

The Medical Group says this will include those who have long term conditions and normally receive their anti-flu vaccination at the health centre.
