Police issue photo of man wanted in connection with Craigmillar assault

Police in Edinburgh have released an image of a man they wish to trace in connection with a serious assault in the Craigmillar area earlier this year.

The incident happened around 5.30pm on the 19th March within the tunnel leading from Hay Avenue to Bingham.

A 48-year-old man sustained serious facial injuries as a result of this assault.

Officers believe that the male in the image may be able to assist them with their enquiries.

He is described as a white, 22-30-years-old, 5ft 10ins tall withwith a muscular build, short ginger hair and was wearing blue jeans and a light coloured t-shirt.

Detective Sergeant Andy MacRae said: “This was a particularly violent assault on a completely innocent member of the community. The victim suffered serious injuries as a result.

“The male pictured in the image is of interest to our investigation and anyone who can assist officers in tracing him is asked to contact police immediately.

“Anyone with any other information relating to this incident is also asked to come forward.”
